Sports Carnival and more

Had our annual sports carnival yesterday, or isit 2 days ago, considering that its monday now lol. It was held at CCAB ( Co-Curricular Actavities Branch ) near the botanical gardens. Quite glad that my class turned up full force, besides those that had official reasons for their absentism. Had touch rugby 1st, in which i was involved, drew with 0714 8-8 despite holding a sizeable lead initially. Pretty sore about it haha. Waited for the orienteering people to come back before we had frisbee. Trounced 0715 10-2. Haha, credits to Chek Keng for the 'playmaking', and to Soh Ee for scoring all 10 points if i am not wrong. After the sports day ened, came what i would bill as the main highlight of the day lol. After we were dismissed our class decided to bypass waiting for a bus and walk directly to Newton MRT station ourselves, but we badly missjudged the distance lol. Ended up walking for aorund 1 hour if i aint wrong. Tiring but i wouldnt say that it was not fun. I mean, it IS a form of quality time that we could spend as a class together. Walking that distance together provided us with many opportunities for complains and conversations, and also allowed us to past through an area of Singapore which i am not familiar with. Such experiences are hard to come by, hope u guys treasure it. After that took the train and lunched at plaza singapura with the class. Sparked a running debate on the fate of the earth with jiacheng, ykm, amos and hong hao. Went home and wasted the rest of the day away haha

A division starts tomorrow ( or today? ), reporting to school at 9, getting released from lessons at 11.30. Sry jiacheng and gab and hazel, haha cant join you all crapping at our usual table during physics and GP on mondays.

I miss the life i had

My friend, if I could give you one thing, I would give you the ability to see yourself as others see you... then you would realize what a truly special person you are.

More ponderings

Will not be dedicating another post to the block test, since there is no point as most of you readers would have experienced it yourself, and my potential results i'm sure most of u can guess/ infer already.

Rather, went through a couple of my friend's blog just now. As a handful of them have been in existance ( the blogs, not the people lol ) for a couple of years now, browsing through their histories looking at random episodes of their life which is posted online, i got struck by that ineluctable process, called change. Looking at some of their entries, their writing style. Most if not all have grown mature . The blog postings too morphed into content which reflected their age. What took hold of me the most, was their photos ( as they say, a picture says a thousand words ). Isnt it amazing that a young innocent cute little girl can turn into a ravishing beauty, or a scrawny little kid can turn into a guy oozing masculinity. Most people realise change, but not all awknowledge it. It is a process with an infinite inertia, this change. Sometimes, dont you all wish that you could halt or slow the process, to take a breather. To enable you to appreciate yourself now, and everything around you, before change takes control again. How many of you wished that things were 'just like before'? Its no good living in the past, but wouldnt it be nice to just sit down by the beach or bishan park at night ( could use some company ), and enjoy the calm. Tap into the oasis of your inner self and just stone as you do not participate in change for awhile. Reflect on your life. What is its purpose? ( i mean life's purpose not YOUR life ). ok i digress. yea

random load of nonsense my brain cocked up trying to study physics, dont comment on it haha, just pull the whole disorganized mess out of my cranium and dumped it here.

leave you all with a quote from Mother Teresa i dug up:
The success of love is in the loving- it is not in the result of loving. Of course it is natural in love to want the best for the other person, but whether it turns out that way or not does not determine the value of what we have done.

Airplane Jokes

After every flight, pilots fill out a form, called a gripe sheet which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor. Here are some maintenance complaints submitted by pilots and the solutions recorded by maintenance engineers. By the way, the airline these came from is the only major airline that has never, ever, had an accident.

Pilot: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement. Engineers: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

Pilot: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough. Engineers: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.

Pilot: Something loose in cockpit. Engineers: Something tightened in cockpit.

Pilot: Dead bugs on windshield. Engineers: Live bugs on back-order.

Pilot: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent. Engineers: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

Pilot: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear. Engineers: Evidence removed.

Pilot: DME volume unbelievably loud. Engineers: DME volume set to more believable level.

Pilot: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick. Engineers: That's what friction locks are for.

Pilot: IFF inoperative in OFF mode. Engineers: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

Pilot: Suspected crack in windshield. Engineers: Suspect you're right.

Pilot: Number 3 engine missing. Engineers: Engine found on right wing after brief search.

Pilot: Aircraft handles funny. Engineers: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

Pilot: Target radar hums. Engineers: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.

Pilot: Mouse in cockpit. Engineers: Cat installed.

Pilot: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer. Engineers: Took hammer away from midget

Koped from Cepheus's blog, hope you dont mind :P

Block Test, Day 1 aftermath

Blocks day 1. GP was bittersweet. Finally had that omph, that feeling of empowerment while i was writing my essay. Last time i experienced it was during O lvls itself. It is the feeling of writing because the point that you are expounding is worth your time, your ink, to convince the marker. Not the usual feeling of writing just for the sake of filling up the blank sheet of paper i am given that i get all too often. Got the feeling that i wrote out of point for it but who cares? i enjoyed writing it and it is all that matter. To Gab: ( although i know that y0ur com is down and you probably wont be reading this ) just because i wrote the same topic as you doesnt mean u confirm die haha, dont rate me that highly, have confidence in your own work, in the believes that you are leaving in ink in your essays. Whatever i do will not really matter then.

Now, for comprehension. Probably the worse comprehension i did this year. Doubt i can repeat my common test performance. As most of you should know, i like to give excessively long winded answers haha, e.g. writing one whole paragraph to a 2 mark question. ( My all time record was 166 words for a 1 mark questions did in sec 3, yes i counted lol ). As for today, no matter how i take a look at most of the questions all that i could come up with are short 1 or 2-liners. My reason for coming up with long answers is to try and cover the question from all angles, whichever stance the marker chooses to take, but it is an impossiblity for this compre. Used to derive a sense of security from those long answers i guess. Not anymore. The AQ, big time screw up man. When i saw the 1st part of the question i was like 'whoohoo, finally an AQ which i think i can score decently'. Then saw the part asking for 2 measures. A couple of chosen swear words ran across my mind. Spent the greater part of the 20 mins i had trying to figure out 2 examples ( did not give in the end ) and crapping out an answer.

Break between GP and econs, was trying to study econs then gave up and went to the 2nd level walkway above the atrium and crapped with JC, Gab, Hazel, GH .. and gang. At the requst of Hazel and Gab, will try to type posts that are more reader friendly lol. Lucky econs isnt too bad, but dont think i'll pass...

Writing this to put off studying for maths.

Before i go, rant abit haha. A div is starting next thursday AFTER MY LAST PAPER. crap cant experience the post blocks euphoria, and friday probably have training ARGH.

ok people, time to go and salvage some decency in a failing grade for maths tomorrow

Personal lackings

Awhile ago, while waiting for my dawdling printer to churn out my maths remedial notes for some quick reference to the stuff taught in J1, i took out my 'little oxford dictionary' from my bookself and started erm taking a peek into its contents... only to find out how limited my range of vocabulary is. Out of the 37 words ( incuding the explanations for A and a ) on page one of the dictionary. I swear that i ahev never encountered like 7 of them. ( aardvark, abaft, abase, abeyance, abjure, ablution, abnegate ). Feel free to check out the meanings if u want. Gotta brush up on my language/ vocab/ expression ability if i even wanna get that distinction ( or even a B ) for GP, considering that i WILL NOT go and memorise the contents of the lecture notes given out during GP lectures, :P sry HH, not my style.

Progress?

What i have done so far for the block tests.
1) Read through all that is required for chem ( not memorise! )
2) organise my physics and maths notes ( i.e. put them in a place where i dont have to dig through my entire history of notes to find them, and filled in the blanks )
3) Read through abit of physics

Use all your well honed GP skills and infer. I think i am in for a shitload of crap when taking the block tests. Speaking of GP and by extension english, WHY DONT NANYANG OFFER H2 ENGLISH LANGUAGE. haiz, my subject combi would be so different from now if nanyang offered that subject. Also was made aware of the fact that none of the subjects i am taking now are theoratically my strong subjects. meaning i didnt get an A1 for any of them. Should have staked my future on my humanities instead. At least the humanities allow for a certain limit for personal expression, and the potential for the usage of ur well of general knowledge. Nope, wont be regretting it

For the 2nd day in a row was stuck at a busstop with rain pouring down all around me. 1st was on wednesday, after i went to YC's house to borrow is physics notes to fill up the blanks in mine, and today was again stuck at busstop waiting for bus to go meet the soccer guys at amk.

Could it be you, cascada

March Holidays?

Upate, to kill the rot starting to form here. Well for the 1st time in a long long time, i actually sat down, to read my notes and try to make sense of them yesterday, and today, without msn on, or music, or football manager running in my com's background. Havent progressed to the doing part yet, but one step at a time. Prays that this last minute investment of time ( sorta ) into my studies would be enough for me to scrap through this blocks. Chemistry and Physics for now seems.. i said SEEMS, so if i still dont get the result, dont blame me haha, manageable. But maths, GOSH! too lil time to practice to get my skills up to date with promos standard, much less blocks lol. ( yes i know, its my fault for slacking, but nope i do not regret it ;) )

So looking forward to after the blocks, after A division, and after stepping down from house com. Reminds me of the time in sec 4 after i stepped down from having band practices. I actually felt lesser of a burden althought the O levels were creeping up on me after relinquishing my band duties. Time will be in abundance, but as to what use will the time be channelled into. we'll see about that.

Looking forward to soccer tmr with benedict and his friends at st wilfreds. Gonna be dead tomorrow haha, soccer from 11 to 1, then training from 3 to 7. Wish me luck peopl. As a sidenote, its been raining nonstop since sunday late afternoon ( i think ). After soccer with Carlton, Nigel and gang, went home, the heavens just opened up. Raining intermittently every now and then for the pass 2 days. Love the sky now, its on the verge of night, with the dark hues escalating the onset of darkness, with the air still and full of threat.

A silver of my random musings...
