When you look me in your eyes

Bored out of my skins the last 2 days. Was bored on friday night, was bored just now in the afternoon, am bored now. Haiz, should be studying by right, but cant resist a little procastinating. Exams end on wednesday, got thurs fri sat sun off. dont know what i'll do with the time. Hopefully popping by ubin with some people on sunday, kills time and get me in touch with my inner nature haha. Aw crap, feeling so *blank* now. Its not a censored word, just that its blank. Maybe i'll find one of the days and go run the entire MacRitchie forest trails for the entire day. That ought to kill time. Will take the results of the Mid Years when they come, no point thinking bout them now haha. I've got bets with 2 people that i'll score lower than them. At least gain something out of this debacle can i?.

Its 2, the night is still yet the wind is breezing through my open window slit, contradictory? perhaps not. Everything just seems so quiet, peaceful outside from what i can see outside my window. Some developer tore up the soccer field before my window, not that i've played there in awhile, to build some condominium that costs around 1.1 mil per unit, parents went to showflat. That small patch of bishan park looks so quiescent, as if stuck in a realm of its own. I wanna be there. I want to experience the night. Let the night permeate through my body. It invokes your senses. Or does it numb them? Have you all ever wondered, what a feelble existance we all are out there among all the stars u see at night. What is the point really, for something to be created, for something to have hopes, dreams, aspirations, passion, love, compassion, morality and yet be put out in the end. ( thats my view ). In the words of a friend, maybe i am too pensive. Haha, i like it that way.

For the record, i am not being emo, i hate being labeled as such. Just searching for inner peace.

Was it ever? Have you ever?

My warning to you is this—do not rely on your companions to compensate for your weaknesses in skill. There will be times they will not be there to help you when needed. - Darth Traya, Knights of the Old Republic

Xinyi asked so yup here goes...

a) Answer the questions below, do a Google Image Search with your answer, take a picture from the first page of results, do it with minimal words of explanation.

1. the age you’ll be on your next birthday:

2. a place you’d like to travel to:

3. your favourite place:

4. your favourite food:
5. your favourite animal:
6. your favourite color:
7. your favourite piece of clothing:

8. your favourite song:

9. your favourite tv show:

10. first name of your significant other / crush:

11. the town in which you live in:

12. your screen name / nickname:
13. your first job:

14. your dream job:

15. a bad habit you have:
16. your worst fear:

17. the one thing you’d like to do before you die:

18. the first thing you’ll buy if you get $1,000,000: ( Dont think its enough lol )
b) Tag 5 other people to do the same once you’ve finished answering every question. [ If you wanna then just do lol ]

What i feel about this, is really hard to describe. It is simply like questioning, what is right and wrong in this world? to this, why do we fear certain things, like breaking a glass even though we know that no serious consequences will happen from it...sometimes when we feel that something needs to be done, or that certain signs show us the way...we should just do it. sometimes when i feel like walking in a direction i did not plan to, or to feel like i need to wander around aimlessly for a while, i do it because i feel it is necessary to the big plan of the world.

After all if you read mitch albom's "the five people in heaven" you would realise that our actions affect many people, even people we don't know...heck, even Judas had his part to play in the death and resurrection of Christ. though we usually see him as the bad guy, if he did not do what he did Christ would not have died on the cross and there would be no Christianity.

Even a simple act like wanting to run through the rain may result in many ripples in the events of this world, and we should just go ahead with stuff that we feel like doing, without too much unnecessary doubt and fear. After all, the most the girl will get is a cold, no?

So when you feel like doing something that doesn't follow your plans and your world view, just do it anyway. You'll feel freer and more satisfied with life by giving in instead of trying to resist it just because someone or society tells us its not right. We're not talking about murder or running around the street naked; its usually simple stuff. :)

Short short post to prevent the rot from accumulating, stinks too much. Played a demo of ace combat 6 with yanchao at J8 yesterday. The graphics are worth drooling over on the x box 360. Kwek, go persuade your brother to let me play leh, and anyone have any plans for the Euro finals, i dont wanna be stuck at home watching it haha? Anyway, go listen to the song 'look me in the eyes' by joe jonas feat. vanessa anne hudgens, its awesome, really. Thanks to gab.

Run through the rain

Found this online, nice story. Not one of those that you get spammed by the same story every few weeks. Cant really figure out the morals still.

She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful, brown haired, freckled-faced image of innocence. Her mom looked like someone from the Walton's or a moment captured by Norman Rockwell. Not that she was old-fashioned. Her brown hair was ear length with enough curl to appear natural. She had on a pair of tan shorts and light blue knit shirt. Her sneakers were white with a blue trim. She looked like a mom.
It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the tops of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout. Drains in the nearby parking lot were filled to capacity and some were blocked so that huge puddles laked around parked cars. We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the Walmart. We waited, some patiently, others aggravated because nature messed up their hurried day.
I am always mesmerized by rain fall. I get lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world.
Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child come pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day. Her voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in.
"Mom, let's run through the rain," she said. "What?" Mom asked. "Let's run through the rain!" she repeated. "No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit," Mom replied. This young child waited about another minute and repeated her statement. "Mom. Let's run through the rain." "We'll get soaked if we do," Mom said. "No we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning," the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom's arm. "This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?" "Don't you remember? When you were talking to daddy about his cancer, you said, "If God can get us through this, He can get us through anything!"
The entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear, you couldn't hear anything but the rain. We all stood silently. No one came or left in the next few minutes. Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say.
Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child's life. A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.
"Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If God lets us get wet, well maybe we just needed washing," Mom said.
Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes through the puddles. They held their shopping bags over their heads just in case. They got soaked. But they were followed by a few believers who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars.
Perhaps inspired by their faith and trust. I want to believe that somewhere down the road in life, mom will find herself reflecting back on moments they spent together, captured like pictures in the scrapbook of her cherished memories.
Maybe when she watches proudly as her daughter graduates. Or as her daddy walks her down the aisle on her wedding day. She will laugh again. Her heart will beat a little faster. Her smile will tell the world they love each other.
But only two people will share that precious moment when they ran through the rain believing that God would get them through. And, yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing.

Fiasco

Putting this down here before i forget. Read in today's straits times that the saucony passion run 10km distance was actually more like 11.5km. STUPIDITY. After the race i told hh that my timing should be 40 something + minutes based on my tiredness level, but when the results came out i was 53. So i guess i am right after all. i DID complete 10km within 50 minutes. 53 minus lets say 2 minutes per round = 47 minutes. The organisers suck, should have planned a better route

Calamitous

Packed my room. If any of you have visited my house before, you wont notice any changes, only moved the worksheets around. Before, there was a pile of worksheets around 30cm high, now its even distributed around my room in the 2 pidgeonholed shelf that i have. Hope that makes my note finding task easier. Took me 3 hours, my back nearly broke. Maths for the mid years is going to be a gonner, no practice, no reading of notes and 5 days left to the paper ( its the 1st paper right guys? or am i wrong, i dont have the timetable haha ). Could not resist the lure of football. Accepted amos's invitation to play for his team on thursday for some game, hope we will win.

Got to adjust my sleeping patterns before school reopens or i will just die in school. If i do not have to wake up early for some reason, they normal waking time is at noon. Make that the earliest waking time. Probably due to 3am sleeping times ( and i was not even watching the euros ). If i have something on, for example the last 2 days where i had running in school ( came down on both days but i only ran on monday ) in the morning, waking time was 7am but sleeping time was still 2am/3am. Not enough sleep lol. I will not pretend that i am studying up till 3am or have ever studied until that late before, in my life but i do not see how my 3am sleeping time can be cut back especially if there is the last minute chionging ( to cover the entire mid years topic ) that is bound to take place on the eve of the papers.

Today met wh, kwek, yc and weiliang after their run in school. While they were resting saw wjc coming to school. Wth come school study never call us, together with gab and hazel. Comeon man, ps fellow slacker club member, you good haha. Decided upon long john's silver for breakfast, but by the time we reached the toa payoh outlet, the usual post gym hangout place for 0713 ( not including me, been there like once? ) it was 11.05am and breakfast was over T_T. Ate the usual stuff, then we somehow managed to convince ourselves ( or was it me lol ) to go to the arcade. So a originally intended to be study session for the 4 of them turned into LJS crapping + arcade session. As usual wh pwned datona, i think all the records there are his. I managed a 2nd in one of the races, and thats as high as you can possibly go with wh around, but was mostly 3rd or 4th out of 5. Played time crisis, wha too long never play liao, must ask kel go arcade, died twice at stage 1, got pwned by wh haha, he died 1st time at stage one and went to stage 3 on the 2nd try on 1 credit. After that i went home, while they went mos burger to study/ drink soup. Their corn soup is awesome seriously, must try the minestrone soup one day.

Thanks to hazel for agreeing to bring down her differential equation and integration tutorial/notes down to school tomorrow. Mine are mostly empty. Would have died twice over if not for her so thanks man.

Faith, Hope, Charity, Determination

Havent touched my books at all over the past 2 days. ( Today and yesterday ). I am so going to die haha. Ahh running is getting into my blood now, ironically i have only took part in 2 races so far. standard chartered singapore marathon (21km) last year and passionrun 2008 (10km) last week. I like the freedom, the feel of having the wind in your hair and in your face. The continous rythm that your leg go through during the process is painful yet soothing really. Its liberating running on the streets, totally different than running on the track. I think my aerobic capacity ( must thank band and soccer training ) is good enough but i need to get those muscles up to shape. I almost never pant while running long distance ( 2.4 does not count, i HATE 2.4 its hell, pain beyond measure ), but my legs get all sorts of cramp or aches after the run. Did some calculations after the passionrun results were out. You know what? If i had been in the open category instead of the junior, i would have been in the top 3.8% INSTEAD of the 13% which i am currently in now, WHY didnt i go for open. A whole lineup of events coming up. Should be taking part in these 3, must get dad to sponser.

- Nike Human Race (10km)
- Army Half Marathon (21km)
- Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (42km) [No idea how i am going to complete it currently haha ]
The nike and standard chartered marathon have great shirts :D

Considering this 3..
- Mizuno Wave Run
- New Balance Real Run 2008
- Lion City Marathon
Mizuno, hmm if yc insists on going, haha i'll go, but no medals no cert and no t shirt abit not worth the money. New balance still no news this on this year's event yet. Lion city marathon, if its EVER gets started haha then maybe i'll join.

Ok nuff bout running, can someone ask me out to play soccer?, street of field or anything, i dont even mind the beach lol. Havent touched the ball since 4 days ago, if garrett and co doesnt play this sunday, then i think i'll go for 2 weeks in a row without any soccer. I WANNA KICK A BALL.

yc edited the post haha ps.
for ykm's benefit, i DID do my studies beforehand, and i did not regret my purchase haha it aint that bad.

Nebulous Boredom

Weekends, why does it seem no different from the weekdays of the holidays? Ok that was random. Been stoning at home alot recently, still no willpower to go and digest the stuff tested for the mid years. Where should i start... lets backtrack to last wednesday.

Class fishing cum bbq at huijie's house!. Well i didnt go for the fishing. By a stroke of luck, the class boarded the bus i was on while it was doing a 3 point turn to get out of punggol end. Why do i get the feeling that i am going to be ps-ed ( been getting alot of these recently ) if i did not so coincidently happen to be on that bus. Went over to huijie's house and i had a packet of fries for lunch ( poor chap ) haha no joking because i ate at home. Went to NTUC Fairprice at rivervale mall to get the bbq stuff, hh was his usual confusing contradicting 'anyhow wack' self and as a result we had to return to Fairprice to exchange some stuff we bought because they were not needed. Went to huijie's condo, was bored so started playing with the flower crab that they caught during fishing, sadly it died before the bbq was over. R.I.P. So did all the other fishes except 2. Played badminton with some kids at the court, and got owned >.< by a primary school kid. He was GOOD man, definately must be coached. Me and gab doubles no match against he and his friend. Played until it was too dark ( there was no lights ) then went to eat the food ( ok i'll be honest, i didnt help much :D, except for fanning the charcoal every now and then ). Consumed 8 susauges that night. Had fun messing around with the fire. Kwek dumped close to half the box of firestarters in lol. The super strong lazer pointer brought by ykm was fun too. Had lots of crappy, without a care in the world fun at the playground while some of the other class guys went to play bball. Rediscovered my childhood lol. Was worming on the rides, swinging and much more. Went home around 1130 caught 88 home with huixin, yy, ykm, yc and wh. ykm was so worried he was going to miss his stop lol. Oh before that hh dumped the surviving fishes.. into the drain -_-. Had fun, hope to have somemore gathering next time. Photos do visit kwek's ( junhong ) or ykm ( kheng meng )'s blogs, lazy to get and post here.

Saturday nothing much, bored to tears at home. Went out in the evening with nic gab ( not the 0713 gab ) and yang. Long time never go out together liao, no including yang's performance, to watch some breakdance competition. Haha local standards paled in comparison to those judges (who showed off their moves as an intro ) from overseas.

Woke up at 5.30am to go for passion run 2008 10km at east coast. Dad fetched, picked up janelle and hh along the way. Our flag off time was at 8am. Sun's up, hot, not nice. I took 53 mins flat, and came in 26th for the junior U-19 category. I think i am at the top 12% ( dropped from 9% at standard chartered) . Should have gone for open category. Irony, the 10th place timing for open category was 50+ mins while junior's was 49+ mins. Won a timex watch as the 4th prize in the lucky draw, and lo and behold, hh got 3rd prize lol. Damn lucky, but if i had a choice, i'll want the lucky draw from the bike rally instead, the prizes are much better ( crumpler... ), the odds for winning this draw is way lower than bike rally's due to the number of people taking part. i think passion run have up to 10 times more, but we and hh still somehow managed to win. Eh janelle dont be sad, next year come run and try again. For the record, my number was 7572 and hh's was 7570.

Christopher wasnt there so i found someone else as my pacer. Haha she is a small little sec 2 girl from cedar. Million thanks to debbi ( knew her from my kayaking ). All of you who want to find someone to worship in running. Go worship her. She is hardcore. I caught up with her at the 5km mark. Didnt realise it was her, then she was like 'are you albert' then recognise liao. So we took turns pacing each other till the last 100 meters or so when i sprinted. She came in 2nd for the under 19 category and u know what is amazing? 1) she is only 14 2) she stands only up to my shoulders ( i am not exactly tall ). 3) she only lost to me by a few seconds 4) SHE WENT FOR THE SAAB CITY DUATHLON BEFORE SHE CAME FOR THE PASSION RUN ON THE SAME DAY and still can get 2nd. Doubt she'll ever read this but thanks debbi, for if i did not find someone to pace, i would have lagged alot. [ this paragraph is for the viewing pleasure of chris, naomi, garrett and eunice ]

Played soccer with benedict's friend's today at st wilfreds. Got license to dribble and do all my stuff ^_^. Played from 11am to 1pm like right smack at noon. Legs super aching now.

Here goes, tagged by Chris

1)When was the last time you had so much fun?
I'll pick that marathon shopping trip last friday. Damn crappy, damn tiring, damn wrong and damn fun haha. Class bbq yesterday was fun too.

2)What would you do if your bf/gf betrayed you?
interesting. Nothing, cos she is not deserving of you doing anything for her in the 1st place cos she betrayed you. Besides, if she could conceive of betraying you, then it was probably never gonna work out in the 1st place, so why waste your time.

3)Who are you thinking of now?
Actually not really thinking of anyone now, but since this question requires a 'who' alright, the 1st person that came to my mind was, hmm classified. ( If i say some guys name, Kwek, Gab etc will say i'm gay, if i say some girls name, you all will think i have a new gf/crush, but yea i AM thinking of someone, lol i'll buy anyone of you a bar of chocs if u can get it right on 1st guess )

4)If given another chance, would you turn back time?
No, then i wouldnt be who i am, and i am loving who i am right now. Live life with no regrets, even if it doesnt seem so rosy, its all part of the experience.

5)Would you rather be rich and miserable or poor but happy?
Chliche, poor but happy, haha honest.

6)What do you want most now?
Get straight As for A levels ( excluding chinese ). Sadly the effort is not matching the desire.

7)What song do you like listening to most currently?
My All - Ayumi Hamasaki

8)Money or wisdom?
Wisdom, for wisdom means having the ability to get the best out of life.

9)Name friends who are caring for you.
If you are reading this, then i know you care. I mean it :D. Others, too long to mention

10)What is your greatest dreams and ambitions now?
Being a military fighter pilot would be nice.

11)Which place do you badly wanna go now?
Japan!!! Although got to learn japanese 1st. Alternatively, i dont mind being the 1st to mars.

12)How would vent your frustrations?
Street soccer court + ball/ Running/ just stoning alone somewhere peaceful

13)Do you have any enemies?
Nope dont think so. Well people MIGHT see me as an enemy but i dont think i see anyone out there who can really be classified as such. Let me know if you think otherwise haha.

14)Last place you visited
Not counting the toilet? Ok yesterday, Huijie's house

15)If the person you have special feelings for feels the same way towards you, what would you do?
That would be the perfect best case optimistic scenario wouldnt it. Do nothing, cos you already have everything going for you, everything will just fall into place. Haha, if only it was so

Ok done. Anyone of you out there who are bored studying or just plain bored haha try this, kills time.

Tired

Ran my 1st 10km in almost 1/2 a year today. Legs and mind quite numb now. Kwek called me at around 4 asking me to head down to school because they were running. There was a bit of a rain but thankfully we waited awhile and it let up. Completed it in 52+ mins. Thanks to weihan and gab and kwek for timing and waiting. Looks like i need to shave 7 minutes off my timing in 5 days to hit my target? haha. Maybe the 2 400 meter sprints i did before that affected it a bit ( 65 and 75 seconds respectively, again dropped ). Wth did i sign up for the men's junior category. Grrr, should have gone of men's open. My category's starting time is 8.30!!! Its blazing hot. U know the monday assembly dripping with sweat feeling. Going to increase my timing definitely. The studs on my adizer are also worn out :(. Just go run lor.

Now, comments on the Singapore - Uzbekistan match yesterday. Its shocking, and utterly disgraceful. Singapore's defence was missing for almost the whole game. Precious was slow to track back, and responsible for 1 of the goal when he did not check the run of the Uzbek player. Baihakki and Mustafic's communication was pathetic, went for the same player countless times and they behaved if they were non existant, allowing the Uzbeks to dribble past them at will. Lionel Lewis, major disappointment. You would expect a norminated Asian Player of the Year to play better and at least pull of some saves to deny the opposition, even if the defence was leaking badly. That is what top class keepers like Cech and Casillas do, but no, he conceded a goal from a corner ( granted the ball had a nice swerve on it ). I had not seen any keeper let in one from a corner yet until today. The midfield ceded control of the centre of teh park to the Uzbeks, allowing them a springboard to launch countless attacks. If any part of the Singapore team were to come up with any credit, i think it would be the strike force, managing 3 goals, despite not having their 1st choice pairing of Indra with Alam Shah available. Good grief, most goals conceded by the national team ever at the national stadium, in front of 25,000 fans who turned up. It baffles me as to how we can draw China and lose by 1 goal margins to Japan and yet implode against Uzbekistan. The dreams of 2010 are hanging by a thread now.

NTU Bike Rally 2008, 128km!

Going to be a lengthy post, be warned. Pictures will come later if i get them haha. Had bike rally yesterday, sunday 1st of june 2008. I'll go by chronological order.

Woke up at 4am, managed to get my dad to wake up too and send me to east coast park by 5am. Ok i was 10-15 minutes late :P. Sorry ahha. At 5+am we were the only few people there. 1st group to register, gh got the number 001. I got 007 aka cristiano ronaldo aka james bond, not bad haha. Got our bikes, before moving to east coast macs to buy breakfast. It is a sort of warm up i guess, but in no way did it prepare us for what laid ahead. Reported back to the starting point near the food centre for the start of the rally.

1st leg was from east coast to labrador park. cycled through the city area, past the singapore flyer, esplanade, fullerton, one raffles quay, vivocity before hitting the park. The 1st stage was quite a breeze, considering that the terrain was flat, the sun wasnt out and we had our energy still.

2nd leg was from labrador to NTU, this route mainly followed west coast road all the way up, got to seen some part of singapore which i never been to before, mostly the area after west coast park and the pandan reservior area. The slopes there were agonizing. Took most of the juice out of my legs, and it is there that i fell behind the pack lol. Notable landmarks include west coast park, pandan reservior, city harvest church and NTU.

3rd leg was the worst in my opinion. Stretching from NTU to kranji reservior. There is a whole long stretch of flat road that looked like it never end. Its actually a emergency runway used by the RSAF that feeds into tengah airbase. The sun was blazing down and you can see mirages on the road, those shimmering images. The slopes there was mad too, had to get off my bike to push for one of them, no way my legs could have taken it. Passed through lots of farms and cemetries and jungle on both sides.

4th leg, from kranji to yishun was the best of the worst. NTU put up signs on the lamppost labeling each peak in front of us, i think there were a total of 4. Pushed my bike up one of them as well. The rest mainly used the momentum from going downhill before the crests to get me up the next hill. Forced myself not to touch the brakes haha. Reached yishun stadium, and civilisation in the early afternoon, at least for most parts the sky was overcast. Cycled past mandai zoo, tons of forest and factories and thats about it.

5th lg started at yishun stadium and ended at serangoon secondary school. The path was mainly scenic country side, ( as compared to wild country side at the kranji area ). The area around seletar counrty club was nice, if only we werent so tired. Took a break just before cutting back into the fernvale estates and just dropped dead at the bus stop with hh, gab and jh whom which i was cyclign with. The later part of this leg consist of cycling through the sengkang area. Thank god for traffic lights. everytime the lights turned red = water break time, and we hit 4 to 5 consecutive red lights lol. My thighs really start to cramp during this point. Really on the brink already. Luckily hit serangoon sec in one piece. Places of interest: Seletar country club, seletar airport, MRT/LRT underground at sengkang.

6th and 2nd last leg, ended at changi beach. Took old tampines road up till pasir ris, then from then onwards it is all home stretch for me, having cycled the route before. Rested twice, just after IKEA and just before downtown east. Also the changi beach checkpoint is situated much further down than the usual expected place. Passed by paya lebar airbase, giant, IKEA, downtown east, changi village and changi beach.

Last leg! ( 7th ) cycled from changi beach all the way down to the east coast food centre that area. Took the newly completed park connector, ahh relief. Followed the length of the airport runway before cutting into east coast. Saw 4 planes taking off along the way, 747s and 777, 2 silkairs, 1 JAL, 1 SIA. Cycled like a mad chiongster because there was no gradient, and my leg found its strength. Finally arrived at the end point around 6.15. Landmarks: Changi airport, east coast park.

Finally, clocked 128km. My butt hurts like mad after completing the rally. Actually it started hurting after the NTU leg haha, and it still hurts now. My arms hurt from grabbing the handlebars, and i look slightly oven toasted, although yang said i looked no different lol. Glad its done. Super tiring but looking back, it wasnt a bad experience. The lucky draw prizes isnt bad too, with crumplers and bikes. Too bad i did not win any. I ate 14 gardenia rasin buns throughout the whole trip and drank 5 litres of water. Consumed 2 buns at every checkpoint, think i'll die without them. Btw, in case you all didnt notice, we cycled past all of singapore's airbases ( tengah, sembawang, paya lebar, changi ) and airports ( seletar, changi ) along the way. Hope to be back next year, with proper training. Three cheers for the guys of 0713 ( gh, jh, amos, wh, gab, hh ) who gave their very best and 'ren' until the end. Oh and i hope to take part in the sundown marathon next year, it was held the day before, i was not old enough this year to take part ( like there is any difference between 17 and 18 ).

Ok nights, got econs tomorrow at 830 for 3 HOURS wth. Save the pictures and the blasting of singapore for their 7-3 lost some other time, too tired.

What lies before us and what lies behind us are small matters compared to what lies within us. And when we bring what is within out into the world, miracles happen. - Henry David Thoreau
