Havent touched my books at all over the past 2 days. ( Today and yesterday ). I am so going to die haha. Ahh running is getting into my blood now, ironically i have only took part in 2 races so far. standard chartered singapore marathon (21km) last year and passionrun 2008 (10km) last week. I like the freedom, the feel of having the wind in your hair and in your face. The continous rythm that your leg go through during the process is painful yet soothing really. Its liberating running on the streets, totally different than running on the track. I think my aerobic capacity ( must thank band and soccer training ) is good enough but i need to get those muscles up to shape. I almost never pant while running long distance ( 2.4 does not count, i HATE 2.4 its hell, pain beyond measure ), but my legs get all sorts of cramp or aches after the run. Did some calculations after the passionrun results were out. You know what? If i had been in the open category instead of the junior, i would have been in the top 3.8% INSTEAD of the 13% which i am currently in now, WHY didnt i go for open. A whole lineup of events coming up. Should be taking part in these 3, must get dad to sponser.
- Nike Human Race (10km)
- Army Half Marathon (21km)
- Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (42km) [No idea how i am going to complete it currently haha ]
The nike and standard chartered marathon have great shirts :D
Considering this 3..
- Mizuno Wave Run
- New Balance Real Run 2008
- Lion City Marathon
Mizuno, hmm if yc insists on going, haha i'll go, but no medals no cert and no t shirt abit not worth the money. New balance still no news this on this year's event yet. Lion city marathon, if its EVER gets started haha then maybe i'll join.
Ok nuff bout running, can someone ask me out to play soccer?, street of field or anything, i dont even mind the beach lol. Havent touched the ball since 4 days ago, if garrett and co doesnt play this sunday, then i think i'll go for 2 weeks in a row without any soccer. I WANNA KICK A BALL.
yc edited the post haha ps.
for ykm's benefit, i DID do my studies beforehand, and i did not regret my purchase haha it aint that bad.

Nebulous Boredom
Weekends, why does it seem no different from the weekdays of the holidays? Ok that was random. Been stoning at home alot recently, still no willpower to go and digest the stuff tested for the mid years. Where should i start... lets backtrack to last wednesday.
Class fishing cum bbq at huijie's house!. Well i didnt go for the fishing. By a stroke of luck, the class boarded the bus i was on while it was doing a 3 point turn to get out of punggol end. Why do i get the feeling that i am going to be ps-ed ( been getting alot of these recently ) if i did not so coincidently happen to be on that bus. Went over to huijie's house and i had a packet of fries for lunch ( poor chap ) haha no joking because i ate at home. Went to NTUC Fairprice at rivervale mall to get the bbq stuff, hh was his usual confusing contradicting 'anyhow wack' self and as a result we had to return to Fairprice to exchange some stuff we bought because they were not needed. Went to huijie's condo, was bored so started playing with the flower crab that they caught during fishing, sadly it died before the bbq was over. R.I.P. So did all the other fishes except 2. Played badminton with some kids at the court, and got owned >.< by a primary school kid. He was GOOD man, definately must be coached. Me and gab doubles no match against he and his friend. Played until it was too dark ( there was no lights ) then went to eat the food ( ok i'll be honest, i didnt help much :D, except for fanning the charcoal every now and then ). Consumed 8 susauges that night. Had fun messing around with the fire. Kwek dumped close to half the box of firestarters in lol. The super strong lazer pointer brought by ykm was fun too. Had lots of crappy, without a care in the world fun at the playground while some of the other class guys went to play bball. Rediscovered my childhood lol. Was worming on the rides, swinging and much more. Went home around 1130 caught 88 home with huixin, yy, ykm, yc and wh. ykm was so worried he was going to miss his stop lol. Oh before that hh dumped the surviving fishes.. into the drain -_-. Had fun, hope to have somemore gathering next time. Photos do visit kwek's ( junhong ) or ykm ( kheng meng )'s blogs, lazy to get and post here.
Saturday nothing much, bored to tears at home. Went out in the evening with nic gab ( not the 0713 gab ) and yang. Long time never go out together liao, no including yang's performance, to watch some breakdance competition. Haha local standards paled in comparison to those judges (who showed off their moves as an intro ) from overseas.
Woke up at 5.30am to go for passion run 2008 10km at east coast. Dad fetched, picked up janelle and hh along the way. Our flag off time was at 8am. Sun's up, hot, not nice. I took 53 mins flat, and came in 26th for the junior U-19 category. I think i am at the top 12% ( dropped from 9% at standard chartered) . Should have gone for open category. Irony, the 10th place timing for open category was 50+ mins while junior's was 49+ mins. Won a timex watch as the 4th prize in the lucky draw, and lo and behold, hh got 3rd prize lol. Damn lucky, but if i had a choice, i'll want the lucky draw from the bike rally instead, the prizes are much better ( crumpler... ), the odds for winning this draw is way lower than bike rally's due to the number of people taking part. i think passion run have up to 10 times more, but we and hh still somehow managed to win. Eh janelle dont be sad, next year come run and try again. For the record, my number was 7572 and hh's was 7570.
Christopher wasnt there so i found someone else as my pacer. Haha she is a small little sec 2 girl from cedar. Million thanks to debbi ( knew her from my kayaking ). All of you who want to find someone to worship in running. Go worship her. She is hardcore. I caught up with her at the 5km mark. Didnt realise it was her, then she was like 'are you albert' then recognise liao. So we took turns pacing each other till the last 100 meters or so when i sprinted. She came in 2nd for the under 19 category and u know what is amazing? 1) she is only 14 2) she stands only up to my shoulders ( i am not exactly tall ). 3) she only lost to me by a few seconds 4) SHE WENT FOR THE SAAB CITY DUATHLON BEFORE SHE CAME FOR THE PASSION RUN ON THE SAME DAY and still can get 2nd. Doubt she'll ever read this but thanks debbi, for if i did not find someone to pace, i would have lagged alot. [ this paragraph is for the viewing pleasure of chris, naomi, garrett and eunice ]
Played soccer with benedict's friend's today at st wilfreds. Got license to dribble and do all my stuff ^_^. Played from 11am to 1pm like right smack at noon. Legs super aching now.

Tired
Ran my 1st 10km in almost 1/2 a year today. Legs and mind quite numb now. Kwek called me at around 4 asking me to head down to school because they were running. There was a bit of a rain but thankfully we waited awhile and it let up. Completed it in 52+ mins. Thanks to weihan and gab and kwek for timing and waiting. Looks like i need to shave 7 minutes off my timing in 5 days to hit my target? haha. Maybe the 2 400 meter sprints i did before that affected it a bit ( 65 and 75 seconds respectively, again dropped ). Wth did i sign up for the men's junior category. Grrr, should have gone of men's open. My category's starting time is 8.30!!! Its blazing hot. U know the monday assembly dripping with sweat feeling. Going to increase my timing definitely. The studs on my adizer are also worn out :(. Just go run lor.
Now, comments on the Singapore - Uzbekistan match yesterday. Its shocking, and utterly disgraceful. Singapore's defence was missing for almost the whole game. Precious was slow to track back, and responsible for 1 of the goal when he did not check the run of the Uzbek player. Baihakki and Mustafic's communication was pathetic, went for the same player countless times and they behaved if they were non existant, allowing the Uzbeks to dribble past them at will. Lionel Lewis, major disappointment. You would expect a norminated Asian Player of the Year to play better and at least pull of some saves to deny the opposition, even if the defence was leaking badly. That is what top class keepers like Cech and Casillas do, but no, he conceded a goal from a corner ( granted the ball had a nice swerve on it ). I had not seen any keeper let in one from a corner yet until today. The midfield ceded control of the centre of teh park to the Uzbeks, allowing them a springboard to launch countless attacks. If any part of the Singapore team were to come up with any credit, i think it would be the strike force, managing 3 goals, despite not having their 1st choice pairing of Indra with Alam Shah available. Good grief, most goals conceded by the national team ever at the national stadium, in front of 25,000 fans who turned up. It baffles me as to how we can draw China and lose by 1 goal margins to Japan and yet implode against Uzbekistan. The dreams of 2010 are hanging by a thread now.

Enigmatic
Class is getting addicted to basketball lately, played it for the 2nd time this week today. My basketball skills are non existant, haha, any apparent reflexes and stamina are imported over from sports in which i am more inclined to, e.g. badminton and soccer. Became the unofficial 'defender' for my team ( i dont know whats the basketball term for a defender ) since i erm have a high sucess rate of stealing other people's balls ( sounds way wrong ). Scored 2 shots so far in 3 games lol, at least i broke my duck liao. The ball just dont seem to want to go into the hoop. Still prefer soccer though, hopes jh recovers faster and then our class will have an proper stiker and we can return to challenging other people in street soccer. Kudos to basketball though, it wasnt as horrendous as i expected =).
On tuesday me and jh were rotting away during the maths revision lectures and so we discussed our grand schemes to form a street soccer team at the end of the year ( field soccer if we can get enough people, anyone interested? ). Turned into a somewhat crapping session. Here are some of the names we came up with for the team name.
AFC, BFC, 2,4DNPHFC and CFC. Try and guess what they stand for haha. Its very lame. Answers below
[ Alpha football club, Benzene football club ( of which the benzene ring will be our club symbol ), 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine football club, and lastly, chloroflorocarbons ]
Some other lame stuff jh sprouted include some insults regarding weight, e.g. you are so fat you weight looks like my phone number, you are so fat you need to be baptised in an ocean, you are so fat that when you step on the weighing scale, it says one at a time please. ( oook, abit cold, haha, not meant to offend anyone, he quoted those from some radio program. )
Manchester United won the champions league, congrats, but the Los Merengues will be back soon. Slept a grand total of 3 hours last night. According to jh ( why isit him again ), this would most probably be the last champions league final we will be watching, as next year, we'll be in NS so cannot see, unless UEFA decides to move it to a weekend lol, and the season after that singtel would take over the rights. I am so not going to suscribe to it ( my dad wouldnt agree to it too haha ), its crazy paying 100 over bucks for a set-top box and 10 over dollars per month to watch a competition which ur team gets a maximum of 13 matches IF they make it to the finals. It was nerve biting, man utd's goal was nice, the buildup was classy and ronaldo's header was superb. Lampard's had a stroke of luck, but chelsea did dominate the proceedings in the 2nd half, so it can be looked as reward in advance haha. the match dragged on for 3 hours, meaning it was 5.45am by the time i went back to sleep. Could have easily ended up 3-3 or more if both teams had taken their chances. Penalty shootout, i'm neutral and i felt the tension, so fans of either team, i imagine you all will be on the verge of cardiac arrest if you are watching it 'live', but that is teh ufn isnt it ;). GP tomorrow, good luck to all. Dont feel confident this time.

Gotta go, gotta go
Sundays, ahh crap. Wasted my entire weekends not doing work. Gotta start, and i mean START NOW. No more procastinating, i am sick of my own procastinating. Its disgraceful. The weather is getting unbearable, the heat is killing me. Nearly suffered heat stroke during street soccer this morning ( ok exaggeration ). Awhile ago i just bathed and i was feeling sticky and sweaty all over half an hour after i got out of the shower. I do sweat more than most of you here, but never experienced this extreme kind of heat before. I do prefer the warmth ( like on a normal afternoon ) to the cold ( like LT4's freezing temperatures last year ) but this is too much. Just now was sitting in my dad's car, and again i was prespiring forno darn reason, alhough the aircon was on. Nope i aint gonna turn my aircon on at home, cant stand that artificial recycled air feel. Wont blame global warming too, i dont believe in that crap. I mean yes there is global warming, but the effects isnt that drastic. Gosh!
Juggled a soccer ball, 61 times yesterday while playing with gab ong ming. New personal record. As you all know, my ball juggling kind of sucks, so practice does indeed work. Leeds united won their playoff 2nd leg 2-0 after losing their 1st leg 2-1. PHEW!. They just have to win the playoff finals and they'll be back in the coca cola championship. 1 step closer to the premiereship. Will heard more about them if they get promoted haha. Good luck to the lads, LUFC forever.

Manchester United are the Champions
The primere league went down the wire, and congrats to manchester united for retaining the title. Real and Man Utd really are intertwined. My leeds united made the 2nd last playoff spot too despite a 15 point deduction :D.

Monday soccer blues
Lost 2-0 to RJ today, haha, now we dont even have a chance in theory to qualify. They played better, period. Came on for 35 mins, but i think i played like crap. Stamina was non-existant, i think partly due to the flu i had over the weekends, and am still having now, was panting like a dog after 5 mins. Madness, considering i can run 2.4 in 9 minutes flat, and gone through the ACS(I) game in the blazing heat without too much fatigue. Ah well, think this is highly probable to be my last game in NY colours. I had a decent run, haha 28 games if my memory didnt fail me, 1 goal. Some RJ guy stepped on my ankle while i tackled him just now, its swelling now, was damn pain. Subsided a little. The bus took AYE then the CTE to bring us home, instead of the usual PIE then CTE route.
Seeing NUS, was somehow reminded about LTC and the fun we had there. Missed those times man, missed the people, missed the lessons, the torture. It also made me realise how little i had seen of the western part of singapore, i've been the the central ( i live there ), south ( orchad road and stuff ) and east ( chalets etc ). but seldom head to the west. Post A levels, i think i am gonna organise a round island jogging trip or something. Any takers?.
Have maths test tomorrow. My poorest subject. Hope to do well this time. the topics dont seem so difficult.
I still dont have people to accompany me if i wanna go for the NY concert. ANYONE INTERESTED? Is it too much to ask, for you people to appreciate classical muic in a sense. Wonders what the class did for PE after they passed NAPFA. I wanna watch Ironman, and i still havent watched forbidden kingdom )=
Its depressing see-ing people breakup around me recently. How did something which seemed so perfect fall out of place. Sometimes, it makes me wonder, do you have THAT sort of care for me? Did anyone ever have? I'll sort it out i swear, ariel did fall for eric after all. ( i think almost none of you can figure this out =) )
Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it. . . . Is it?
Today started and lasted 1 whole game ( like finally ) in this year's A div. Won ACS(I) 6-2, assisted from a throw in along the way. One of the goals was also kinda my fault haha, but a win is a win, although we have nothing much to play for now.
Since like a couple of my previous posts were what you all termed 'emo', i shall do a lighter one here. I would like to thank everyone who has ever been a part of my life in these short 17 going on 18 years that i have existed. Without any of you, my life would have taken a different turn. For better or for worse, we'll nvr know, but i would not have wanted to live my life one bit different from what i have experienced. I thank everyone for allowing me to express myself, be myself without too much of a reprecussion, although i do get on people's nerves sometimes ( and i thank you for allowing me that too ). I thank anyone who have stuck with me through thick and thin, but i shall not over dramatise as those hiccups in my life thus far, would pale in insignificance to those i'll face in future, for your presence was most deeply appreciated. So to everyone who sees this, THANK YOU.
Ok, i think i am going crazy haha.
Wednesday this week is gonna be a free day because training was postponed to friday as fridays match may be rescheduled to next week. So yea more time on my hands this week. Then again, i've got complex due like last friday and not handed in yet, and i DO NOT want to stay back everyday to do work in I-space. Lucky thursday is may day, gives me some time to organise some sort of a response to the chemistry test i have on friday
2 requests to all readers of the blog:
1) Anyone wanna go to the band/ guzheng ensemble performance at the Singapore Conference Hall on 10th may, currently have no one to go with. Tickets are at $10 ( lol why do i seem like i am publicising their concert )
2) Anyone wants to catch Forbidden Kingdom? Its a nice movie i swear, preferably on this wednesday ( as i am free, and it isnt on a weekend so i dont have to burn a chasm in my wallet to watch it ). Havent missed a jackie chan movie since i was able to go for movies on my own, haha dont want this to be the 1st.
Realised that i'll be attending like 3 concerts this month, including the NYJC's band. CHSSB's concert is coming up real soon, and also going to AJ idol at the invitation of caro, since she is performing. ( they have a pretty dumb rule i think, like only can invite 3 non AJC-ians per performer to the showcase, i'll grab my chance haha ).

Life on a rollercoaster
The football team drew ACJC 2-2 today. Good result, as ACJC had won all 4 of their previous matches before meeting us, including defeating RJ, last year's nationals champion. As of now NYJC has 6 points from 4 games, ie. drew 3 won 1. It is not as bad as it seems, as we already dealt with the 2 biggest opponents in our group, and are still undefeated. If u wanna catch dramatic and exciting football that will rocket your heart rate, watch NYJC. Today was another thriller as usual, conceded 2 within the 1st 3 minutes, ( the team has a thing bout lapse of concentration at the start of the game ). I thought it was game over from the bench, but slowly clawed our way to a 2-2 draw. I thought the 2 goals could have been prevented if danial had not been dreaming lah. Then their keeper blundered and it was 2-1. mid-way through the 2nd half, we conceded and saved a penalty. Before yong scored a beauty of a free kick form somewhere not far from the halfway line near the stroke of full time to level the scores. So tons of drama for all you football enthusiasts out there. It was a similar story for the last few games. Against TJC, we scored 1st, but near the final whistle, we allowed them to score, but we somehow managed to conjure up a goal like straight from the restart. Against SAJC, we probably let in one of the fastest goal ever in A divisions, according to coach, it was 52 seconds, then we scored right at the death to force a 1-1 stalemate. Interesting stuff. As for me, i have played a grand total of 10 minutes so far with 1 goal. Have spent lots and lots of time bidding my time on the bench. Well, if the team manages to win or even reach the semis, i will have no qualms about it. I already contributed ( and hope to contribute more ) so quite satisfied. Argh, if only i had been more consistent in J1, the right back slot was mine for the taking. Although ning is doing a great job at right back now haha, but we play 2 different styles.
Had our house exco camp for our J1s last weekend. 3 days 2 nights, draining is an understatement. I slept a grand total of 3 hours for the entire camp, and i am still counted as one of the people who slept the most. Group 1 rocks lol, was their mentor together with Shi Xuan and Darren. Started the camp with some major logistical screw up ( and i decided not to go to my alumni band practice because of that, i guess i have to withdraw after all, just too busy with too many stuff ). The programs mostly went smoothly except for some minor and 1 major hiccup. Can tell the 1st batch of house exco have gone a long way, and did pretty well considering that we had no examples to follow, no seniors to guide us, and no idea what this is all about when we 1st started out. Many thanks to danielle for all her hard work for the camp. I dont think anyone could have done a better job, and played the villian so well lol. Glad the J1s found it tough, yet managed to enjoy the process, learn new stuff, and bond among themselves and the seniors ( us ). Again i declare, this IS NOT meant to be a tekan camp like the SC's. We've got a promising batch of recruits, can expect great things from them. As a sidenote, thanks to arrun for smuggling that breezer in, haha.
Now on to the PW results ( bear with me reader ) I got a B, as most of you reading my blog should know by now, the rest of my group all got C, and my class has no As. I feel that its a pity, because if our WR is only maybe average in standard, i would have gotten my A, easily. Also feeling sad for my group who put in so much effort, especially HH. But this is one subject where hard work does not necessarily translate into results. You need to have that quality in your work to, and that i am sorry to say was lacking in my group ( including me ). Hardwork just isnt enough sometimes. I am also peeved and astounded by the percentage distinction in certain other colleges and the results achived by other people. Call this arrogant, but i do not believe that my standard of writing, presenting and ideas are in anyway inferior to some of the people in these categories. I just cannot stand it when these people, whom i feel that i am easily a notch above, get the same results or score better than me, especially if their individual efforts do not match up to their grades and they only get pulled up because of their group. Also, i sure as hell dont think my report writing or oral skills are lacking behind half of the YJ population, with all due respect. Gotta also improve my GP, its getting from bad to worse, must do something drastic to it, as with my other subjects, when my commitments end.
Damn, it IS complicated. Why cant it be simple, like in black and white.

Football and early dismissal tomorrow
Well, lets put it on record shall we I SCORED MY 1ST GOAL FOR THE SOCCER TEAM :D. haha, been waiting a long time for that, at least now i can claim to have at least contributed a goal. Not a glamourous goal, but a goal still. Kinda threw my whole head and body at the ball in a sort of weird diving header and forced the ball over the line. It kinda rolled over the line ( form my side view lying on the ground ). Not a bad time too, trailing 1-0 at injury time of the 2nd half after we conceded like within less than a minute in the 1st half. Had no idea what coach had in mind or expected me to do when he threw me into the fray with around 15 / 10 minutes remaining, but well it worked, didnt it. plaudits to the team, who was wonderful despite trailing for like the whole game. We deserved to at least draw, if not win. Hmm, finally felt what its like to score a goal, not bad.... Btw we played SAJC ( national 4th last year ).
Tomorrow was supposed to be early dismissal for NYJC-ians and me ( note the use of the word was ). But the econs department, with all due respect, kinda derailed my plans for a free afternoon. we get dismissed at 1.30 with econs lecture having been brought forward. And to top it all off, wednesday training is brought forward to tomorrow, just perfect ( hints of sarcasm ). There goes my tuesday.
Now, shall blog on the book which is also mentioned on Soh Ee's blog and graciously lent to me by Cindy. Its "I Believe You" by Low Kay Hwa. Its a short romance story, abit intrigued by it cos Soh Ee described it on her blog and so i borrowed it from Cindy. Will not put up spoilers here haha, but it is worth a read, if any of you are looking for some not too tedious reading materials. It is touching, but maybe a little too perfect. Things just do not occur by this process in reality. If things were that sweet, and that easy, wouldnt it be too easy to make someone fall in love with you? No, life's more complicated than that. And also although a nice perfect happy ending would be what most people hope for, i couldnt help but feel a less ideal ending would suit the mood of the book more, haha call me evil but... All in all, i have to admit that when reading the book, i do feel a tinge of sadness for the protaganists in the story, so in that the book has achieved its purpose, in influencing its reader. It is a nice book, a worthwhile read.
I will have choices,
but in the end
it still boils down
to a singularity.
Enjoy,
love is a simple thing. It's either you love, or you don't. You can try everything, almost everything to prevent yourself from loving, but it all boils down to this: Either you love or you don't. . . Doesn't matter how long the love lasts. You'll be contented once you know you were in love before. - Grandma from "I Believe You" by Low Kay Hwa
